Ohio LongArm Quilters

OLAQ started with a small group of longarm machine owners in 2003. In the beginning, we met to share ideas and to solve common problems. The group has grown to 40 Standard Members and several Associate Members. We are at capacity and have a waiting list. Today we are a very professional organization that meets once a month to learn from the dynamic programs our Program Committee has arranged. Several of us are now teaching on the national level. A couple of us have published books that are on the market. Many of us have won numerous awards for our quilting talents.

Our goal is to share ideas and techniques for quilting, especially on a longarm machine and to expand our knowledge of the craft. Some members operate a business quilting tops for customers, some make fantastic quilts for the sole purpose of teaching others how to do it, and some restrict quilting to the tops they make for themselves.

Our purpose for hosting Quilting with Machines is to share ideas and techniques and new tools that have come on the market. The art of quilting with a machine on wheels on a moving frame over the surface of a layered fabric sandwich does not have to be limited to longarm machines only. No matter the set-up you have to work with, you can use the ideas, techniques and drawing skills you learn at our classes to help you make your quilting unique and exciting.
