Quilt as Desired

Last year’s Quilt as Desired was open only to OLAQ members. The impact of seeing 30 or so quilts all exactly the same but quilted as each participant saw fit was an inspiration. This year’s challenge is open to anyone who wants to purchase a kit and participate.

Churn Dash is the block for the 2008 competition.

The block must be constructed according to the directions included in the kit and must measure 30” x 30”.

The basic block construction cannot be altered in any way and must be made only of the fabrics in the kit.

You may add embellishments, to include but not limited to paint, dye, thread painting, beads, crystals, etc. You may use trapunto.

The kit includes fabric for the block, binding, and instructions to construct the block. Backing and batting are your choice.

The cost of the challenge kit is $10. Complete the appropriate area on the registration form to purchase the kit.

Piping may be added to the binding.

Entries must be submitted by September 15th and must be accompanied by the entry form included in the kit and a label on the back that will include your name.

Prizes will be awarded to the top 3 selected by viewers choice and teachers ribbons will be placed according to teacher’s choice.
