Fitting feathers into triangles, diamonds, squares, rectangles and some really odd shaped areas could really speed up your quilting, in addition to providing a special WOW factor. Taking time to mark feather patterns onto the quilttop requires time and effort, which could easily be used to free form those feathers in all kinds of shapes. Using the coin method of feather formation, we will learn to design feather combinations for all kinds of spaces. We will use different type feathers, depending on the space. Why don’t you bring an unusual shape which you encounter, and we will design free form feathers for as many as possible in the latter part of class. The focus of this class will be to provide design and drawing skills for quilters who are wannabe free form feathers, eliminating the need to mark designs, quilt on those lines, and remove the markings.
This class is most appropriate for quilters who would like move from quilting on marked feather patterns, to free-forming feathers in all kinds of spaces, both on longarm and domestic sewing machines.
