Sandra will break down the process of getting started, finding ideas, interpreting the subject matter and translating it to a quilted work of art.
Students may want to bring a photo or other design inspiration which they would like help with the steps needed to transform from an inspiration to a fabulous art quilt.
Sandra will discuss the intricate miniature quilt designs she uses, and provide tips for using some of them on your future pieces. She will show you her “box of tools” which she uses to complete the “beyond-belief” quilting on her art pieces. She will also show you some fail proof methods of piecing unusual shapes in the creation of new designs.
As she shares some of the art she has completed, and small samples of some of the commissioned pieces, which have found their way around the world, you will develop an appreciation of her sound techniques.
